Viktor Wolf Edler von Glanvell (1871–1905) was not only a famous Austrian mountaineer, but also a historian of canon law. This study contextualizes him and his works against the scientific background of the late nineteenth century. To this end, it evaluates both his works and archival material. It thus shows the scholarly network of which Wolf von Glanvell was a part and situates him between legal history and current canon law. This biography of his works is also a contribution to the history of canon law as an academic discipline.
