Abdoul-Ganiou Dermani was born in 1973 in Agou-Nyogbo, Togo.
He studied Painting and Batik Art at the College of Arts and Crafts in Kpalimé, Togo.
He currently lives and works in Stuttgart, Germany.
His artistic practice encompasses painting, drawing, mixed media, photography and video.
His work deals with African identities, as well as social and global issues.
His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and film festivals around the world, including Electron Salon at Los Angeles Center for Digital Art in Los Angeles (2018); „Portrait“ at CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea (2018); NSK State Pavilion at the 57 th Venice Biennale in Italy (2017); 7 th FIVAC Festival in Cuba (2017); Time is Love.10 at ZKM Museum in Karlsruhe, Germany (2017); Pera Museum in Istanbul, Turkey (2016); „Aktionsraum“ at Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, Germany (2015); „Protest“ at Hazard Gallery in Johannesburg, South Africa (2015) among others. He has been earned numerous prestigious awards for his work, including the Best Video Art Prize at the 17 th Zoom Film Festival in Jelenia Gora, Poland (2014).
