This book deals with public political risk investment insurances, providing comparative analyses of MIGA’s, the German and 7 further currently operating EU MSs’ public PRI schemes. In spite of the EU’s partly exclusive competence in this field, the MSs still operate their national PRI schemes. The comparative analyses have enabled the identification of best practices among these schemes. As it is the high time for the EU to exercise its competence concerning PRI, this book considers the options and suggests a way forward. In that sense, annexed to the book is the author’s proposal for an EU Directive on harmonisation of the main provisions concerning public PRI for FDI in third countries.
