The religious dimension of meals plays a minor role in the current practice of religious education. The diversity of early Christian interpretations of the meal and its religious-historical roots are hardly taken into account. This desideratum will reappraise the present work by determining the early Christian Lord´s Supper-understanding and the determination of the religious-historical origins. The exegetical and religious-historical investigation leads to the assumption that within the Lord's Supper meal aspects from the religious surrounding combine to a new specifically Christian meal concept in a syncretic way. These results are prepared for religious education.
