Norway’s Picturesque Landscapes and Myths in Chinese Paintings - Depicted by an Austro-Chinese Artist
Yan Donko is an Austrian painter with an ethnic Chinese background who temporarily lives in Norway where she arrived in the summer of 2017. Born in Shanghai in 1965 she had the chance to experience the cultures of many different countries and tries to see the world from an individual East Asian perspective in her paintings. In the first chapter of this book, she introduces a selection of the paintings which she created in Norway since 2017.The second and third chapters deal with her exhibitions in Norway and the fourth chapter with a unique 20 meters picture scroll from Bergen to Kirkenes, based on travelling the Hurtigruten route along the coast. As an appendix she shows 18 paintings created in the Chinese year of the ox (2020).
