There are things which don't stand out so much.
Especially when they are not there at all.
This may sound a little stupid or rather complicated.
It can be best explained by a simple example.

A cute little story about being in love – but being alone just right now. The author muses about the absence of his loved one and what it does to himself, saying:

When you're not around I feel somehow incomplete.
When you're not around I am still around, of course.
But I am deprived of an important task.
I then feel so – out of commission.
