Paul Malte Behne analyzes the impact of UN peacekeeping missions on the basis of extensive field research in Lebanon. Using the example of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the interdependence of state structures in the area of operations and UN missions is illustrated. The analysis is based on interviews conducted in 2023 with UNIFIL soldiers and the Lebanese civilian population in South Lebanon. The research findings can be used to draw conclusions on how to make peace missions more effective.
